Family Mediation Training

The Ontario Association of Family Mediation (OAFM) website: www.oafm.on.ca sets out the training requirement as well as the various other prerequisites to become accredited.  You will see that we have a "basic" and an "advanced".  The 40 hour course is really for anyone with some basic mediation training, knowledge of family court and family dynamics. When you have completed the training as required at OAFMs website you will then need to complete a 100 hour internship with a qualified accredited mediator.  Our Centre’s training is designed to meet the OAFM requirement.

The Mediation Centre offers a full range of family mediation training.  Our trainers, Lisa Emms Wice Acc.FM and Claudette Reimer Acc.FM have over 25 years of combined family mediation experience. Claudette and Lisa feel strongly that the training offered needs to be experiential and relevant to students.  They bring in experts/lawyers who add their expertise to training sessions.  All training includes supervised role-play, individual coaching and feedback as well as course materials and certificate of completion.

Here is what students have written… ‘friendly…relaxed’… ‘very interesting and transferable’… ‘interactive’… ‘sense of humour’… ‘passionate’…  ‘guest speakers were great enjoyed their perspectives’…  ‘role play was fun & relaxed’
