Mandatory Information Program (MIP)

The Mediation Centre is responsible for providing a Mandatory Information Program to all family court clients in Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The Ministry of Attorney General has provided all family court sites with a script that we must follow. Therefore you could attend any MIP session across the province and it will be the same information. This program is approximately one and a half hours long.

The sessions are intended to provide relevant information and assist the parties in being better prepared for court and education on helping children of all ages cope, adapt and move forward.

Starting April 2011 all new applicants and respondents must attend a MIP session. You will be given a specific date for your attendance at the time you file your application and the respondent will receive their date with the service of their material. If you can not attend on the date given to you by the court staff you may complete the program online here, or call the Family Law and Information Centre: Simcoe County 705-739-6446 or District of Muskoka 705-645-8793 (or the court location in your area) to reschedule before your first appearance date.
