(MIP) Mandatory Information Program

Mandatory Information Program is available to all family court clients. In Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka new applicants and respondents must attend a MIP session.  You will be given a specific date for your attendance at the time you file your application and the respondent will receive their date with the service of their material.

All MIPs take place at the courthouse you were given to attend in your paperwork.

The Ministry of Attorney General has provided all family court sites with a script that we must follow. Therefore you could attend any MIP session across the province and it will be the same information. This program is approximately 1 1/2 – 2 hours long. The sessions are intended to provide relevant information about separation. We discuss alternatives to court, education on helping children of all ages cope with the devastating change and help folks understand the court process.

We offer an online program that you can complete and receive a completion notice by email.

However, if you prefer to attend in person and need to reschedule your assigned date, you can call the FLIC (Family Law and Information Centre) – Simcoe County 705-739-6446 or District of Muskoka 705-645-8793 (or the court location in your area)
